This global technology and services firm earned big savings by incorporating energy efficiency into ongoing real estate moves.
Sustainability has been an integral part of the corporate culture and value proposition of many large technology firms. In this case, this commitment focused particular attention on building performance at the company's corporate headquarters campus located in the Bay Area.
Enovity worked with the client's energy and sustainability teams to implement energy efficiency projects at its seven-building headquarters campus over a five-year period. By collaborating with the on-site facility management team, we were able to incorporate energy efficiency retrofits into planned tenant improvement and major renovation projects, thereby minimizing downtime and potential disruptions to key R&D operations at the campus.
Among the highlights of the program was the design and construction of a new data center. In collaboration with the design team, Enovity recommended an air-side economizer strategy that yielded first-year energy savings of nearly five megawatt-hours when compared to a traditional design. Our engineers also supported the client's in-house commissioning team with trend analysis and troubleshooting to assure optimum performance.
Throughout the engagement, close coordination with the local utility provider helped secure more than $750,000 in efficiency incentives that reduced payback periods, boosted ROI, and gained public recognition for the client's sustainability commitment.
