U.S. GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION, PACIFIC RIM REGION
In response to an information security challenge, Enovity helped GSA integrate building automation and energy tracking systems to manage its buildings more intelligently.
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is the largest owner and operator of real property in the United States. In 2010, GSA’s Chief Information Officer issued a national directive to address security concerns regarding networked building systems. In response to this directive, Enovity helped GSA’s Pacific Rim Region—which manages more than 50 federal office buildings and courthouses throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii—migrate 7 different types of building automation systems (BAS) to a common network behind the government’s firewall.
With the BAS and metering systems integrated on a single network, GSA has a wealth of facility performance data available for analysis. Using the Tridium Niagara platform, Enovity created a front end to display whole-building metered energy data as well as system-level performance data. This solution meets GSA's IT security criteria while also providing the necessary tools to get maximum benefit out of energy analytics and dashboards.
With the system in place, Enovity provides ongoing technical support to GSA to ensure reliability and system performance. This support includes troubleshooting meter connectivity issues, programming optimized control sequences for energy efficiency, delivering web-based training for users, and maintaining a service call center.
