ZHAN WANG

Ph.D., PE

ENERGY EFFICIENCY TECHNICAL MANAGER

Zhan analyzes facilities and systems to unlock energy efficiency opportunities in buildings.

Zhan contributes to technically challenging projects, especially those that involve complex controls sequences or rigorous energy performance modeling. He also mentors younger engineers and leads research and development efforts for emerging energy-efficient technologies.

When we recommend efficiency strategies, it’s important to stay grounded in the realities of the daily operation and maintenance of the facility. My engineering perspective is always practical, something I’ve learned through experience working in the field.”

Zhan has nearly 20 years of experience in design, construction, commissioning, and energy efficiency of HVAC and control systems. His controls expertise includes programming-level capabilities with systems such as Andover, Honeywell WEBs-AX, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Siemens Apogee.

From the earliest studies for his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering in China, Zhan had interests in thermal science and HVAC&R performance. He made the move to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln largely to research, simulate, and implement innovative and cost-effective control strategies for facility systems, building on top of his thermal science background. This naturally led to a career in energy efficiency and commissioning existing buildings.

I like working with our team because of Enovity’s philosophy. The goal is to get systems working right, then keep learning and improving to get the most energy savings.”
