Codes & Standards Reports

Enovity provides energy code analysis and reporting for a variety of new construction and major improvement projects — residential and commercial, large and small. We have expertise in large commercial facility Title 24 analysis for building envelope, lighting, HVAC and domestic hot water systems.

At Enovity, we specialize in performance analysis of energy compliance, taking into account the integration of all systems. The performance approach is a compliance process that allows tradeoffs between building features; this is more likely to result in the most cost effective solution to meet and exceed today’s rigorous energy standards since it treats all systems together rather than independently.

What is Codes and Standards Analysis?

Energy code compliance is the process of verifying whether a design for a new building or major building improvement meets the current standard. In California, for example, most new construction is required to submit a Title 24 certificate before a building permit is issued. We analyze projects using computer tools and work with our clients to find the best approach to meet the standard. We specialize in the performance approach, which employs a powerful computer program to identify the most energy efficient strategies.

A number of energy programs rely on building energy performance using a process called “benchmarking” to a reference energy standard. LEED for example, allows credits for designs improved beyond meeting Title 24. LEED also allows for comparisons to ASHRAE’s 90.1 Building Energy Standard. Likewise, California Utility’s Savings By Design Incentive Program allows cash rebates for new construction projects that exceed Title 24 by at least 10%. We provide all of these services at Enovity
