Case Study
Buck Institute for the Aging
Enovity recently completed a Preliminary Energy Audit and also provided Energy Design Assistance in support of the New Construction Savings By Design Incentive Program for a new addition to the Buck Center for the Aging. Enovity has completed energy audits at more than forty (40) commercial, industrial, high tech and schools campuses totaling more than 20 million square feet for PG&E in its territory over the past four years. The Buck Center Energy Audit project was funded by PG&E under their Commercial Audit Program and involved a site energy audit and economic evaluations, including limited energy monitoring, of retrofit opportunities. Audit reports for PG&E are often used to support potential customer financial incentive programs such as PG&E’s SPC, Critical Peak Pricing Initiative and Express Efficiency programs.
The site survey activities, together with subsequent on-site monitoring of energy usage, was facilitated by Enovity and confirmed building envelope, lighting, HVAC, domestic water, boilers and wastewater system energy performance. Enovity utilized end-use monitoring utilizing stand-alone dataloggers and BAS trending of building systems performance. Energy loads, energy efficiency and demand response options were evaluated using pertinent energy data, calculations and models. Capital costs were estimated and combined with annual energy savings for calculation of simple payback, forming the basis of measure recommendations.
